Adventure Boat Build

The “Zodiac Thor” is a unique vessel. We utilize this Zodiac Futura Mark III to travel to many remote places. It is a bit of a “Jeep” of the open water. It is full of capability and versatility. It is stable in all sea states and provides a great platform for transporting equipment and people. But as a production boat, it still needs some add ons to make it an Adventure Boat. From safety to navigation charts to multiple forms of communication – we’ve built a watercraft that rivals any like it.

In the video, we take you on a walk around of our Adventure Boat Build. We started with a production Zodiac Futura Mark III and added the things we needed to explore remote and abandoned places. The adventure boat build is a work in progress and your ideas are welcome. We encourage our viewers/readers to share their thoughts and ideas. Comment below.

Thor's Annual Equipment Inspection. When available, we ask an expert to audit our equipment and vessel for suggested improvements (and compliance). Pictured is the inventory and inspection for the Spring of 2019.

Thor’s Equipment List.   This list represents the required equipment for any excursion on Thor.

Checklist

Because excursions are normally remote, each excursion begins with a checklist to manage risks involved with long distance travel in a small watercraft.  This is important for safety during expedition style travel.   Open water trips should only be attempted by the well prepared.   The checklist is utilized to ensure that the vessel is seaworthy and the mechanical systems are acceptable.  Click on the picture for a PDF copy of the document.
